When you are on a low-carb or keto-type eating plan, sometimes you get burned out on the foods that you eat over and over again. I know that’s happened to me a few times where I couldn’t face one more egg in my day.
Thankfully, that has not been the case For quite a while because I’m much better at finding foods that I enjoy. I have a lot more in my repertoire that allows me to be eating healthy, wholesome food, but changing it up as well.
The last time that I went low carb for a long period of time, I used to eat a lot of protein bars as my snack. I don’t have to do that much anymore due to quick high-protein snacks. Just like the one I’m going to share with you right now.
High Protein Snack or Lunch Idea
I love cottage cheese, but not the large curd that is too wet! The bad thing about some cottage cheeses that is you have to buy these big containers. Sometimes those are not the easiest to finish or they don’t travel well, like if you wanted to take them for lunch.
So, we found these cool single-serve containers of the Good Culture cottage cheese, which is delicious, BTW. (small curd, YAY!!) The single servings are a little over 5 ounces and it packs in 19 g of protein.
I always keep these in the house now because they’re perfect for throwing a couple in your lunchbox or eating one as a snack when you just can’t make it to your next meal. Hubby takes them to work and uses them as a snack too!
The other day I was having cravings and I knew I would do something not great, so I thought here we go, perfect opportunity to stay on track. I had some fresh blueberries and I threw in a handful of walnuts. This is a completely filling snack and a great addition to a low-carb meal.
I take these several times a week to work when I stay all day and they become a part of my lunch. I pair it with a salad or some vegetables and I’m good to go.
This quick and easy high-protein snack or lunch idea is hopefully going to help you stay on track. Getting away from prepackaged protein bars, etc. is a good plan because of the ingredient list! I’m trying to eat as wholesome as possible, so these are just the perfect fix for me.
Check them out in your store to see if you can find them. I know where I live in California, we have them at Walmart and Target. Those are the two main places I shop so check out your grocery store around you or your Walmart and enjoy.
I hope this high-protein snack or lunch idea helps you and your healthy journey! Let me know below ~
