I’ve been eating low-carb since 2016 so I can safely say there are some things that I have learned over the past seven years.
Here are a few important low-carb tips that you may be interested in.
- If you’re having cravings, you’re not eating enough protein or eating clean enough
- If you’re mindlessly snacking, you’re not eating enough protein
- If you’re unsatisfied after a big meal, you’ve probably had too many empty carbs or sugar, and not enough protein
- If you are sluggish, losing hair, have brain fog, or just general low energy, you probably need magnesium and more protein
- If you’ve gone to bed and wake up ravenous in the middle of the night or you can’t sleep because you’re hungry, you need a few more calories in your day, and more protein.
All of these listed above I have experienced throughout my journey. I can look back now and see that Protein is a huge necessity for my body.
Frankly, I mainly eat protein and have my fruit or vegetables as a side dish because my body thrives on protein.
That’s where quick and easy proteins, such as jerky, are almost a staple in my life. In fact, just yesterday, my husband asked what he should take to work because he gets hungry in the middle of the day and we bought him jerky sticks to be able to snack on and moderate how much he’s eating.
Quick Protein Snack With Old Trapper Jerky
Last summer I went on a road trip with my sister. Some of you probably remember if you’ve been following me for a while. My go-to keto snack for the car was Old Trapper beef jerky, protein bars, and walnuts. It can’t get easier than that!
If I travel anywhere, I always have some form of jerky in my car; in my backpack, if I’m flying; in my bag, if I’m running errands, or hanging out with friends or family. I do not want to be tempted by chips, candy, or empty sugar-laden junk foods.
Old Trapper has been a go-to for my family for several reasons.
- One, it’s easy to find, and I can buy it in multiple sizes through Amazon, Walmart, and even at a few of my local grocery stores.
- Another fabulous reason is it is tender and so flavorful. But not overly packed with sugar. You don’t taste sugar when you eat the teriyaki flavor. It’s just delicious.
- A third great reason is if you are keto and stay away from sugar altogether they have a zero-sugar beef jerky that is perfect for your eating plans.
I don’t know about you, but for me and my family beef jerky has been a staple in our lives. Sitting for hours on the pool deck, watching my kid swimming in tournaments and meets, jerky was a staple. Trying to keep that kid fed while burning thousands of calories in the pool, beef jerky really came in handy. I even add the big bags to Christmas Stockings for a healthier alternative to candy!
It’s just a great all-around snack. Perfect for so many diet plans. Plus it comes in multiple sizes that you can easily carry and never have to worry about eating something you don’t want.
Check out Old Trapper jerky next time you place your grocery order or visit the store for travel or everyday snacks. I know it will become a favorite.
