Fruits are in important part of our nutrition needs. However, if you are on the Paleo diet or perhaps Atkins plan, you may find that you not allowed to have fruit or you need to eat it low quantities.
But, I found that there are some fruits that you absolutely can eat on a low-carb diet and, in fact, you really should be including them for the best nutrition overall.
I wrote an article about some of the low-carb fruits you can enjoy and I listed out some of my favorites . I want to take the time to reiterate exactly the types of fruits you should be looking for to enjoy.
One of the issues about fruits is the amount of sugar. This, as you know, converts to carbohydrates and can store as fat if you do not burn it off quickly.
So what type of fruits can you enjoy? Here is a list
Fruits That You Can Eat On A Low Carb Eating Plan
- Berries – especially strawberries
- Watermelon – super low in carbohydrates and loaded with water
- Avocado – little in carbohydrate content but high in healthy fats
- Cantaloupe and Honey Dew Melon – high in vitamins and potassium
- Peaches – on the low-end of the carbohydrate range and obviously delicious any way you eat them
Also of note, apples and grapefruit also on the lower end of the carbohydrate range. Apples, of course, are loaded with fiber and so good for you.
Another thing to consider are small mandarin oranges and pineapple. Both of these are perfect to add in small quantities to your juicing or snacking. While high in sugar and therefore carbs, they are perfect to offset the strong “green” taste of your juice blend.
Including fruits into your diet, whether it’s low-carb or not, can be just as simple as adding them to your juicing. How about including them with your breakfast, or even having them as a quick and light dessert?
Fruits are loaded with nutrients and vitamins that we need and with careful selection you can include some easily into your diet.
