Tips For Staying Healthy During Travel

1. Feed Your Body – If you are a stress eater or will be traveling a long time, make sure that you pack healthy snacks in your carry-on or tote. Stopping to grab low nutritional foods from convenience stores, truck stops, or airport kiosks will not give you the nutrition your body needs to keep you healthy and fueled.

2. Boost Your Metabolism and Immunity – Holiday travel means increased activities and sharing space with hundreds of other travelers. Start taking immunity supplements, probiotics for your tummy, and good vitamins a week or so before travel for that added immunity boost. Bring along hand sanitizers and use them often.

3. Stretch Your Legs Often – Whether you are driving or flying, sitting for long periods of time can really take a toll on your body. Take frequent breaks and move your body. Even when you are sitting, do some foot and leg stretches to keep the blood flowing.

4. Watch Your Digestive Health – We love to indulge in richer foods and even extra desserts during the holidays but that can add up for digestion problems that leaves us feeling sluggish. Make sure to add in extra fiber and water to help balance your digestion. That probiotic can help too.

5. Be Prepared for Motion Sickness – Travel can cause occasional nausea and motion sickness, especially if your fight is bumpy or the road is windy. Ginger root and peppermint are both known to help settle a queasy stomach and help with motion sickness. There are over the counter patches that can help. Plus make sure to eat lightly and drink plenty of fluids.

6. Sleep Well – Make sure to keep a light schedule on your travel so that you can get plenty of sleep. Resting after travel will help you feel great during your trip and help you to stay healthy too.
