Lost and Found by Tarah DeWitt: Review

cover of Lost and Found by Tarah DeWitt

Sometimes I hate reading tearjerkers. Some of these authors really know how to push that emotional button. Thankfully, I have read a few books by DeWitt before, so I kind of knew what I was in for…

This particular story celebrates friendship, carrying a legacy, and second chances. Plus, the ending was beautiful.

OVERVIEW:
Bea always wanted to be a mom. But she never expected she’d have to lose her best friend to do it. Armed with nothing but her best friend’s eggs and a bucket list to complete, Bea’s world is a sea of changes.

When she needs a place to stay, her longtime friend Silas steps in to help. A firefighter grappling with the aftermath of an accident, Silas has his own challenges to work through that have left him cautious and vulnerable.

At first, they expect nothing. But as these two former sunshines knit together in a love that has been unfulfilled until now, a new beginning comes out of the ashes of the past―one that will lead to a love that can withstand all the slings and arrows, joys and triumphs, that life can throw.

Lost and Found by Tarah DeWitt Review

I have read several books this season about passing on a legacy, but this story means it literally. I did not know that you could gift something as personal as what Bea received from her friend who passed away. It was crazy!

But armed with a plan, regardless of who tried to talk her out of it, this strong character made tough decisions and found a way to celebrate her forever bestie. Standing by her side through it all is her secret crush, a sweetheart of a man who is dealing with his own struggles. Together, they are fire!

DeWitt tackles a tough arrangement, and potentially, a morally gray area. She hits on the family struggle and acceptance, survivor’s guilt, grief, single motherhood, and a hot second-chance romance.

She rewards us with a steamy hunk with a heart of gold, who is head over heels for Bea. We cheer him on as he breaks down walls and shows her his true feelings. The love pours out of him.

Loaded with heat, the building romance, and his over-arching care and concern for his woman is so evident that parts of this story are simply breathtaking. The title of this book is literally perfect.

That ending about killed me. Lost and Found is an impactful and beautiful story that you will remember for a long time. Definitely a re-read, over and over again!
