In Isabeau’s Eyes by Lora Leigh: Review

In Isabeau's Eyes by Lora Leigh cover

I have not read a book by this author in a while, so when I spied this one, I knew it was time to dive into a romantic suspense story. I just love her cowboy romances!

This steamy book is good in so many ways and the plot is wonderfully unique, but not cowboy related. Check out my thoughts on this upcoming book below.

OVERVIEW:
The first novel in a new series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh—you’ve met the Mackays; now it’s time to meet their friends.

Danger is stalking Isabeau Boudreaux. After the deaths of her parents ten years ago during a violent attack that left her blind, remnants of her vision are returning. But a series of accidents has convinced her friends the Mackays of Somerset, Kentucky, that someone wants her dead. When a roadside blowout proves to be almost fatal for Isabeau and her good friend Angel, Angel’s brother mercenary Tracker Calloway knows this was no accident.

After a particularly bloody job, the last thing Tracker wants to do is get involved. But whoever is after Isabeau almost hurt his sister, and Isabeau is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Tracker is determined to protect her but knows staying away from Isabeau is impossible. He begins a steady seduction to tempt the innocent woman into a world of hunger like she could have never imagined. And keeping her is the only option—if he can save her from an unknown enemy as her sight begins to slowly return.

In Isabeau’s Eyes by Lora Leigh Review

It has been a while since I read a book by Leigh and I really missed her beautiful stories. She has a gift that draws you in and wraps you in sensual heat while ramping up a bit of suspense to keep you on your toes too. This story is a wonderful example of that.

I fell hard for the characters. Leigh was so descriptive especially when it came to Isabeau and her sights, sounds, and feelings. I loved Tracker, but I have to admit, his name bugs me. It is hard to imagine screaming that in the throes of passion! LOL

As much as I loved parts of this book, there were issues that had me lost many times. The blurb says that this is the first book in a new series, yet there were so many characters that were apparently known prior, I felt like I was coming into a series behind and missing key links to others. Leigh needs to give the reader more backstory to tie the characters to the series.

I love the plot, but you really need to read other books before this one. I can’t tell you which one (but the ones with the Mackays would help) but the backstory is not clearly laid out in this one to keep track of anything.

In Isabeau’s Eyes is hot as hell! I definitely loved so many parts. A clear connection to others would have made this a 5 star for me!

3.5 STARS!
