If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years of dieting and healthy food choices it is trying to listen more to what my body needs. One of the things that I have noticed is my body does extremely well on high protein, low carb meals and food groups. In fact, my body does not do well on simple carbs at all. Shocker!

Over the past 5 to 6 years, I have utilized a lot of protein supplements, especially when I was working out with weights regularly. I found they are excellent for helping with breakthrough hunger and supporting muscle growth and development.

Personally I feel a huge difference when I get enough protein in my diet. I also feel I lose weight better too. If I am fatigued, it is usually because I need protein.

Flavorful Supplement Protein for Midlife and Older Adults - Bowmar Nutrition

Flavorful Supplement Protein for Midlife and Older Adults Bowmar Protein Powder

I was able to check out this new protein powder from Bowmar Nutrition. Created by a young fitness couple I happen to follow on Instagram, I was familiar with the product line but had not tried anything yet.

There is a difference in protein powders and I normally use a whey powder like Bowmar’s. If you are a vegan or vegetarian, pea powder is good too. Bowmar has a big selection on Vegan Protein powders. Oh, and PS – this is not just for Fitness Peeps either… more on that below.

The powder comes in a huge container! There was a lot of settling so I’m not sure why the container was so big. Maybe something to work on in the future for them. They offer a huge choice in flavors too! That is something unique in this industry.

The powder is very fine and blended quite easily. The Vanilla Bean flavor tasted good. Not overpowering at all. The great thing about a protein powder like this is it’s not just for drinking. You can use it in cereals, pancakes, protein bars, energy bars, etc. Check out the other flavors for that too!

I like that it has 22gr of proteins and they focused on keeping it as natural as possible. Nothing is worse than adding a bunch of chemicals to your body unnecessarily.

They do have a bit of sea salt included and a touch of steviol sweetener. The calories per scoop is 130, so definitely something that would need to be added into your calorie count, if needed.

Overall, the product is flavorful and and easy way to support your body with additional protein as needed. After workouts, as a meal replacement, or just because you need a boost.

Let’s face it, the older we get, the less we tend to eat, but we still need those proteins to help support our body and its functions. In fact, research is indicating that older adults, 65 and up need 1.0 – 1.2gr per pound, not .08gr like other adults.

Plus, senior bodies many not be as efficient at utilizing the protein they do consume. This is a great way to supplement without “eating“ more than what you’re used to or need.
