Dreaded Effects of Menopause: Dry Skin

Dreaded Effects of Menopause: Dry Skin

I have always had normal skin. Neither oily nor overly dry. That is until I started the menopause process. Then everything went haywire.

Now that I am the other side of what we would call middle-age, my skin is extremely dry. And in the winter it’s even itchy and flaky in a couple of spots. Just gross. Some days I just want to immerse myself in water or lotions!

When it comes to my face I have to moisturize it daily. I can’t stand the feeling when it’s dry, so some type of moisture is essential.

In the past I have used many different types of moisturizer. From expensive to inexpensive and everything in between. I love moisturizers without a lot of chemicals now that I’m older. I find I want to just keep it simple.

Dreaded Effects of Menopause: Dry Skin – My Solution

Several years ago I was introduced to face oils. This year because my skin is so dry, I turned back to oil and I love the soft feeling it gives me.

I use just a tiny bit of oil for each side of my face and my forehead and I can see an immediate reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

At my age I have a ton of wrinkles. The fact that using a facial oil that I happen to find at Marshall’s has been a godsend. Plus the price is amazing too!

Within just a few minutes of application my face is soft, has a huge reduction in wrinkles, and it now makes a perfect canvas to apply my foundation and make up.

I know that water is a huge help when it comes to overly dry skin and I am trying to build my Water intake back to where it used to be. But knowing that there’s an oil available that helps my menopausal skin, makes me happy camper.

Have you ever used oil on your face? I know some people can’t use it because they may already have naturally oily skin and that could add to the problem. But for me and my super dry skin, it’s awesome.

Now for my body and my extremities, I found a lotion that is coconut oil based and I use that daily which helps immensely as well.

Once it starts to warm up and my skin is no longer super dry, I can just go back to a regular moisturizer and not have to use oil based products hopefully.

But for now I’m good and very happy with the results.
