Delicious Bottled Low Carb Salad Dressings

One of the bad things about going low-carb is you find out pretty quickly how many of our favorite items are loaded with sugar. My family and I try to eat healthy and with that we usually end up eating a lot of salads. I personally love salad but it’s the dressing that is a killer. Loaded with fats and sugars as well as preservatives, you can honestly say the dressing is the worst part of the salad.

So I was pleased to find several dressings in the refrigerated section at the grocery store that are considered low carb. Because of the small amounts of sugars in them, several of these lines would be something you could incorporate into your diet. My two favorite are the Litehouse salad dressings and the Bolthouse Farms yogurt-based salad dressing.

The Bolthouse Farms has amazing flavor selection. What’s great about these is there’s no preservatives, no trans fat’s, no artificial colors or flavors, and they’re gluten-free. Plus, being made with yogurt they are about 73% lower in calories than regular dressings.

While they do have a shorter code date due to the fact they must be refrigerated and contain no preservatives, the fact is these have an immense amount of lower fat and a minute amount of sugar. Total carbs on one of these flavors is around 3g or 1%. The sugars are only 2g total. That relates to about 45 calories per serving, which is actually 2 tablespoons as compared with full fat regular dressing

They have wonderful flavors like Salsa Ranch, Caesar Parmesan, Cilantro Avocado, which is so good and really fresh tasting, and others as well.

In the Litehouse Brand, most of these are also very low in carbs. Only 2 g of carbs which is from 2g of sugar. These are also gluten-free, no preservatives, made fresh, and you again, find it in the refrigerated section.

The Litehouse is made with canola oil therefore your calorie count is much more. The 1000 Island is showing 120 cal per 2 tablespoons, which is high in that aspect, but still a low-carb product due to the low sugars. You would have to balance what you need as far as your fats to determine if the Litehouse Brand is one that you could eat.

These two brands are the only two that I keep in my house now. The flavor is wonderful on them and I love that they’re not loaded with preservatives and sugar. That way we can eat it whenever we choose. The specialty flavors are great on my specialty salads such as my Taco Salad.

I love that companies are now listening to what we need for our health and are creating products that are better for us without having to make it ourselves, plus giving us that convenience that we love.

PS…. One great tip I want to share is you can also try using regular bottled salsa or taco sauce on your salad. Has zero fat, hardly any calories, and it is so so delicious!! YUMMMM
