The older I get the more I realize how critical nutrition is for my well-being. Menopause is a hard time in our lives to figure out what our bodies are doing and what we need to do for it.
Many days I start the day without breakfast. I know that’s not a great thing to do but sometimes I just don’t feel like eating. Especially on days that I have to work early. It’s always a struggle. (I do have a cereal I enjoy I’ll share again with you again.)
On those days, however, I have been finding that I seriously need additional nutrition and I have a few items that have been become critical for kickstarting my morning, nutritionally anyway.
Critical Nutrition Start to the Day
Ever since I got lazy with my daily juicing, I’ve been taking these Super Greens. I wrote about them before for you and they still are high on my list.
One of the main reasons I choose this brand is the cost. Found at Walmart this brand with 20 servings is about $15. Similar items I have found are at least $20-$25.
The second main reason is I know nutritionally my body is changing greatly and I just simply need to have the extra nutrition.
The second item I have been taking regularly the past few months has been this protein powder. Made by Arbonne, this is a vegan protein that actually has amazing flavor. (No, I’m not a representative.)
I have taken other Pea protein supplements before and the taste was horrid. It was really difficult to get down. This protein powder is very flavorful, and, in fact, my friend makes pancakes with hers.
This protein powder fills me up for about three hours which is acceptable to get going in the morning. I don’t feel so guilty knowing that I may have not eaten when I should have.
I know there is something changing in my system nutritionally and I have blood work paperwork sitting at home waiting for me to go when I come home from vacation. But in the meantime, loading myself up with all of the nutrition I can while trying to watch my weight, watch my sugars, and my carbs that’s what I can do.
I’ve been working on plant-based foods that I’m not good at it enough while traveling to make the complete shift. But when I get home that’s first on my list.
What do you do for your nutritional needs at this time in your life?
