High Protein Foods for Women and Weight Loss

I talk a lot about protein because of the fact I try to incorporate a lot into my diet. Being low carb eater means I’m also focusing on protein. It is great for health and weight loss.

As a woman who fasts quite a bit, and by that I mean 12 to 18 hours a day, being able to figure out how to incorporate protein into that small eating window can be tough.

So one of the things that I’ve started to do is to pack protein into my breakfast and lunch, which of the two main meals that I eat. It’s pretty easy if you also incorporate a protein powder as well.

High Protein cottage cheese and yogurt

This is an example of a typical breakfast that I may eat: cottage cheese, high-protein yogurt, and a protein shake. Together, these are 46 g of protein just for breakfast.

Now what does that mean?

If you are in a weight loss phase, you have to focus on your proteins because you don’t want to lose muscle mass. We want our body to consume the fat for fuel, but we also have to maintain that muscle.

That’s why walking and workouts with some sort of weight-bearing exercise is very important. Maintaining strength, especially as we age and go through menopause, is critical. We do not want to be older and not have the strength to take care of ourselves.

Experts say you should eat between .75 and 1 g of protein per pound that you want to ideally weigh. I am a very muscular person and always have been so I lean towards the 1 g/ pound. So I need to incorporate close to 175 g of protein every day.

How can I do that?

Look for high-protein snacks and focus on your proteins first then add your veggies, fruits, and whatever carb you may want as the last item. I’ve created a lot of lists on my site here for high-protein foods and snacks, of which I’m linking some for you.

The protein powder I like is pictured above. It’s called Ascent, and I also make sure to add my collagen and fiber to that each day as well. Below, I’m going to link the products that I use on Amazon.

I prefer the flavors of these. They work well together. There’s no taste to any of it because the chocolate flavor of the protein powder is the best that I have tried. And I’ve tried a lot.

I hope this helps you. Let me know in the comments.
