95% of the time I eat very little carbs. When I do get certain carbs in my gut, I always regret it.
Most of the carbs that I consume are natural carbs that come from vegetables or fruit. But sometimes it’s hard to find products that don’t have those hidden sugars. One culprit can be beef jerky.
If you’re eating keto, I’m sure you know what I mean.
Eating keto and low carb means that I eat a lot of protein. For those of you that have been following me for several years or more know that much of the time I eat only one meal a day.
Sometimes I do get hungry and in those instances, I need something that’s not going to mess up my system and caused me to gain weight even if it’s a false weight gain, like water weight. That’s still weight that needs to come off and it usually takes 2 to 3 days, unfortunately for me.
No Sugar Jerky for Keto and Low Carb Plans
I love the Old Trapper brand of jerky and I have featured it multiple times on my site for you.
One of the things about jerky is many companies add sugar because it tastes good and adds flavor to the meat. Especially in the teriyaki flavored products, you’re going to find a little bit higher sugar content. For those of us on keto and low carb plans, we now have the option of zero sugar jerky.
Old Trapper Zero Sugar Jerky is extremely tender and bursting with flavor. I have had other zero sugar jerky products and I do prefer this brand when I’m looking for that type of product. It is too salty for me as they do use powered soy sauce as a flavoring ingredient. A Less liberal amount of the soy seasoning would be better, in my opinion.
Even so, I’m excited about this one because it makes a great option for those breakthrough snack time foods that work for me and others that cannot or should not eat sugar.
Last year I went on a two week trip and my lunches were mainly things like jerky, nuts, and protein bars. I definitely keep keto jerky on hand on multiple occasions. It’s a great snack item especially when you it helps to control your sugars and your carbs.
Old Trapper is found in many of the big box retailers, on Amazon, grocery stores, and more. Look for it next time you stock up for those munchies.
