If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that I am a juicer. What that means is I supplement my food on a regular basis with a healthy juice that I blend from scratch.
I started doing this because I was very unhealthy and I realized that I was not getting the nutrients and nutrition that I needed simply from food. This occurred mainly due to poor choices.
My feet were swelling; my face was swollen. I did not eat right. I had no energy. I sat way too much. I simply felt terrible. I knew I had to do something drastic.
Starting the juicing detox process was a learning experience. I started with a basic juicing recipe that I still go back to over and over again. I take this basic recipe and add simple ingredients that helped me detox and feel so much better within just a few days.
There’s a few things that I learned once I started juicing. Here is a list of some of those things you can look forward to:
What I Learned Through Juice Detoxing
- Stick to simple basics that are easy to obtain clean and prep, and keep on hand every day.
- Do not rely on fruit as a mainstay in your juicing detox recipes. Only add a few berries, oranges, apples, or pineapple to help cut the bitterness of some greens. Yes, this means no fruit smoothies at this point.
- Excessive fruit juices will increase your blood sugar.
- Prep all of your foods you will be juicing before hand to reduce the possibility of excuses.
- You can juice a few days worth at one time and place in mason jars. Juice should last 2 to 3 days, sealed and refrigerated.
- Within a day or two or starting, your body will begin the detox process. Expect to use the bathroom more as you start eliminating all of the junk in your system.
- Drink plenty of water to help with the detox process. By this I mean 80-100 ounces a day.
- If you juice on a daily basis, within a few days you will start seeing changes in your body and even in your energy level. Swelling starts to reduce, sugar cravings reduce. Energy levels increase along with many other changes.
- Stick to the greens for the depth of nutrition your body needs. Cucumber, spinach, kale, and celery should be among your mainstays for juicing. Apples adds loads of fiber.
- There are loads of vegetables that you can juice easily that will give you amazing nutritional benefits.
No matter if you are juicing to detox your body or if you are wanting to jump start a weight-loss program, fresh juice every day make a huge difference on so many levels.
