Sometimes stress gets the best of us. It can show itself in different ways such as over eating, dry skin, acne, brittle hair, lethargy, short tempers and more. Especially in menopause, stress can rear its ugly head.
While it can be difficult to reduce or illuminate the reason causing stress, there are ways that we can combat and fight back to help reduce the effects of stress in our life.
Walking is a wonderful way to combat the stress in our life. Exercise is known to release endorphin’s into our system, helping us to feel better and cope better. Here are some tips to get you on the move and back in control.
Walking Tips for Stress Relief
- Walk for relaxation not for speed
- Turn off your mind and focus on your surroundings. Listen to nature and just enjoy
- Take short walks several times a day. 10 minute break at work, lunchtime, after dinner – anytime you can fit in a short walk will help
- Take deep cleansing breath’s before you start and during your walk to help reduce the tension
- Stretch, roll your neck and swing those arms to help relieve anxiety and tension as you are walking
Walking for stress relief has a lot of positive health benefits too. Walking will help your body to improve blood pressure, reduce body fat, tone muscles, improve flexibility. Plus it will get your heart pumping to reduce the cause of heart disease and improve circulation in your body.
With the holidays here, there is no better time to take care of your body, mind, and soul. Start by reducing your stress and the rest will come!
