I am a member of a business referral group for my other business. One of the ladies in the group with me has been a personal trainer for over 15 years. I have been struggling with my fitness and food for so long now I thought it might help me to see what she could do for me.

Much like so many other people, I had my reservations about it. After all, we know how to diet and exercise, right?

Wrong!

In just the past few weeks I have spent with her training, I have learned several things that have opened my eyes, and yet left me feeling very inadequate in many ways too! But I mean that in a good way!

1 – Trainers spend a lot of time learning everything about the muscle groups so you can benefit from their extensive knowledge.

2 – We think we know how to do an exercise, until you have to redo it a hundred times to correct the mistakes we make.

Butt sticking out? Tuck it in. Engage the abs. Don’t move the elbows. Engage the abs! 10 more!

3- They care about the stress you put on your body when working out. A hurt person is not going to come back so slow and easy will work better even though we want results now!

I never thought I would benefit from using a personal trainer but I have been enjoying it for the most part.

Yes, they will push you.
Yes, you will work parts of your body you haven’t in years.
Yes, muscles might hurt in places you never knew you had muscles.

But is it worth it?

I say, hell yes!

I can really see how using a personal trainer can make a difference in your body for good, especially at my age. Find someone near you. Some will even come to your home. Some will have small gyms. Some will do personal one-on-one meetings.
