So I’ve been stuck on this huge plateau on my weight loss for many months now. It’s been very frustrating because I’m not seeing the results that I want to see. I’ve been trying different things like adjusting my eating plan and also my workout plan but because of constraints in my life, nothing seem to be working.

I was speaking to a friend who is into weight lifting and those guys are really smart about how to get the best results. The first thing he recommended was to increase my water intake to at least 1 gallon a day.

Now, I’m no slouch on water drinking. It’s one of the main things that I drink every day but I was not reaching the 1 gallon level. I am usually around the 60-80 oz. So I decided to take his advice and up my intake to see what would happen.

I was extremely pleased to realize results almost immediately. In the first five days I have lost 6.5 pounds. That is huge for someone who’s been on a plateau for so long. So it got me thinking as to how water helps you lose weight. Here’s what I found.

How Water Helps You Lose Weight

* Our bodies are made up primarily of water. And for many of us our body is in a dehydration state because we drink other things than water or not enough liquid at all. So when we increase the water it also allows our body to release any water it may be holding onto because of the dehydration state it feels it is experiencing.

* Drinking plenty of water also helps to flush our body of toxins and impurities. This keeps our body pure and cleansed, which is healthy for you and helps your body work in the proper manner.

* Drinking water before meals is a surefire way to fill up your tummy so you’re less likely to overeat. That helps with weight loss as well.

* Also, when you’re drinking that much water you’re not drinking other things that can add calories or inhibit weight-loss, such as sugar free products, milk, etc.

* Water also helps with your digestive system so you’re not bloated with upset stomach issues.

So I am now convert. I always drink a lot of water but stepping it up to the gallon a day has really helped my weight loss. I have a 24 ounce cup with a lid and straw and I carry that with me everywhere. I drink 5 to 6 glasses of that each day. For me that works easier than 8 ounces at a time since I will forget to do that.
