I hate to admit it but my dog Louie is getting a little bit older. It’s getting harder and harder for him to get up and down on the bed where he loves to sleep and snuggle with his parents. He has a dog bed that we keep outside when he likes to lay out there and sun himself but we needed another one for indoors.
There’s a new concept in town and a great way to recycle and reuse old clothing blankets even old dog beds and it comes in the form of the cool bed that I got to review called Molly Mutt.
Their dog beds are built on the concept of upcycling. Buy the beautiful and durable duvet and then stuff it with fabrics from around your home. This way, you keep fabric out of landfills, build a bed for your dog that smells just like you, and the entire bed is completely washable.
The bed comes in 4 different sizes so as to cover all dogs and all breeds. Louie is a big guy he weighs 100 pounds and he is a pure Pitbull of a larger breed. So we got him the extra large size in this cool pattern that’s preppy enough for him and stylish enough for me.
The great thing about it this bed is that it comes with the outside cover and then an interior mesh bag that you fill with used clothes, towels, blankets, sheets, whatever. It saves on recycling but it also gives your dog your scent so that he we’ll enjoy snuggling into his own bed.
I went cleaned out my closet and got rid of all kinds of old clothes that I no longer fit into or were damaged and they are perfect for this use. I also grabbed some old blankets and ripped up towels and things like that and put them in the mesh bag. We then loaded the cover and encourage Louie to come over and try out his new bed.
Lou was hesitant about it for a little bit but then he snuggled right in and started digging in making his little happy Nook. The bed is a perfect size for him and he’s enjoying napping even more.
The Molly Mutt dog bed is a fabulous solution for recycling old clothes and other articles and making a great place for your dog to find comfort in your scent even if you’re not home. I love that it is completely washable, even the inside stuffing, since it is old clothing and such.
