Every so often, there comes a book that is tough to get through. Whether it’s the content or the timing of when you’ve read it. Or maybe it doesn’t resonate with what you were expecting. But it happens.
This book happens to be one of those for me. And while I finished it and enjoyed the context of the story, it was just difficult for me.
Here are my thoughts on this upcoming release. You can judge for yourself.

OVERVIEW:
When Dana and Nigel got married, they had such promise. After sixteen years, the cracks are showing.
Dana is a burned-out ER nurse, and Nigel is a recently unemployed stay-at-home dad whose professional identity is disappearing. Questioning the directions their lives have taken, Dana and Nigel are each granted a wish from a mysterious stranger. For one week, they can escape the pressure of their lives in favor of ones in which they never married.
Waking up in an alternate reality where their youthful, individual dreams have come true is, at first, a marvel. When they meet by chance in Bali, Dana recognizes Nigel instantly, but he feels only an inexplicable connection to this stranger. And they discover there’s a catch to their wishes.
Returning to normal—and to the long-haul love they vowed would be forever—won’t be as easy as they thought. As the clock ticks down, Dana and Nigel face an impossible choice that will test the very foundation of their relationship and alter their lives forever.
Two Lives with You by Lauren Ho Review
I started this book with high hopes, but there was something in it that just made it difficult for me to enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
I don’t know if it was the female character and her unwillingness to communicate. Or the fact that she was struggling with the huge changes in her life, her marriage, and even her family, but did not look to them for support.
Conceptually, the book was great. It’s interesting and compelling. It’s a great theme. But for me, it had a lot of negative connotations that played out throughout the entire book. It also had some repetition that wore on me just a little bit.
The male character, her hubby, did have flaws – who doesn’t?- but he at least was honest about his feelings in one perspective of his world.
By the end, I’m happy they got their HEA. But it felt like a long journey for this reader.
The plot is great, but I think I really wanted more of the happiness found instead of the negatives. That would’ve made all of their struggles seem worth it worth everything they went through to get their happily ever after.
Overall, a great plot. The author has deep insight into marital strife and compromise, but for me, the execution was not what I was looking for.
