When you are addicted to sugar or carbs, one thing you notice is that you are always craving more sweets and food. Even if you just ate an hour ago, you could eat again. No problem.
Well as you know, it is a problem, especially when you are gaining weight and feel like crap.
The good news is that whether you’re trying to lose weight or you’re tired of feeling hungry all the time, there are several things you can do to suppress your appetite and start feeling less hungry. Here are some quick tips to help reduce hunger levels and take back control.
Tips to Reduce Your Hunger Levels
Eat Slower
Eating quickly can make you feel like you’re still hungry when you’re not. This is partly because the meal will be over quicker, and if you’re eating with other people, you might be finished before everybody else. This can trick your body into thinking that you haven’t actually had enough to eat or that you’re still hungry.
By slowing down, your mind has the chance to catch up with your tummy and it will alert you to the fact you are no longer hungry.
Drink the Water
If you’ve had a large meal but still feel like something is missing, it’s normally lack of water. Feelings of dehydration can often be mistaken for feelings of hunger, often pushing people to eat more than they should.
Rather than trying to get rid of these feelings by eating more, drink plenty of water throughout the day so that when you do feel hunger, it really is hunger. And drink a big glass of water before you eat to reduce the amount of food you ingest too.
Get Enough Sleep
Many people are surprised to hear that a lack of sleep can lead to feeling hungrier. Try to sleep for a minimum of 7 hours every night if you tend to feel hungry a lot. This amount of sleep should help you to curb any unwanted feelings of hunger.
Avoid Junk Food
The more junk food you eat, the more junk food you will crave. Fatty and sugary foods do not provide the nutrients that our bodies need most of the time, so you could also mistake your body’s cry for nutrition with feelings of hunger. Eating a healthier diet can help you to feel better all round.
Switch to Dark Chocolate
People who tend to reach for the sugary snacks at the end of a long day should consider switching their snacks of choice to dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is known for other benefits, such as improving heart health and providing antioxidants to your body, but it can also help you feel less hungry. My Dad swears by his 2 oz. a day!
Focus on Protein
Adding more protein into your diet can prevent you from feeling hungry throughout the day. Carbohydrates, particularly stodgy carbs made from white flour, can make you feel full but can also leave you feeling tired and craving even more food.
Add a phone app to help you track your protein and carb intake. It will help!
Try a Juice Cleanse
Juicing has helped me the most when it comes to cutting sugar cravings and cutting hunger pains. All those nutrients flowing in makes you feel amazing and they last thing you want is to stuff yourself!
These tips are key to helping you cut the hunger pains! I hope you try them!
