I love the trend of stories about witches that have been hitting the shelves lately. They are fun, unexpected, and offer a neat change of pace.

I was able to review an upcoming story this week that hits all of those boxes, plus includes a slow-to-grow romance! Continue on for my complete thoughts on this new release.

Overview:
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules…with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos “pretending” to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

But someone does. An unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes anyway and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her three charges, but also an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two long-suffering caretakers, and…Jamie. The handsome and prickly librarian of Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.

As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, the thought of belonging somewhere begins to feel like a real possibility. But magic isn’t the only danger in the world, and when peril comes knocking at their door, Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a found family she didn’t know she was looking for….

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna Review

I have to admit that this book took me a bit to get into. I was distracted this week by traveling and it took me a while to actually sit down and absorb what I was reading! It is hard for me to read in bits and pieces. I need to power read!

This is a delightful and uniquely titled story that pairs a strong and capable witch with a gruff hunk of a delectable man. Oh, and there are three younger witches and other cool characters too! lol

But seriously, Mandanna has penned a story that is not only fun to read but offers a steamy slow-burn romance simmering across the pages. Perfect for women’s fiction and romance readers alike, this story offers many levels of interest from loneliness, family bonding, friends to family, heartwarming antics, and steamy delight! It hits so many buttons, that it is hard to rate!

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it so much! A fun yet comforting story that will add a spark to your library!
