The Obsession by Nora Roberts

Synopsis

“She stood in the deep, dark woods, breath shallow and cold prickling over her skin despite the hot, heavy air. She took a step back, then two, as the urge to run fell over her.”

Naomi Bowes lost her innocence the night she followed her father into the woods. In freeing the girl trapped in the root cellar, Naomi revealed the horrible extent of her father’s crimes and made him infamous. No matter how close she gets to happiness, she can’t outrun the sins of Thomas David Bowes.

Now a successful photographer living under the name Naomi Carson, she has found a place that calls to her, a rambling old house in need of repair, thousands of miles away from everything she’s ever known. Naomi wants to embrace the solitude, but the kindly residents of Sunrise Cove keep forcing her to open up—especially the determined Xander Keaton.

Naomi can feel her defenses failing, and knows that the connection her new life offers is something she’s always secretly craved. But the sins of her father can become an obsession, and, as she’s learned time and again, her past is never more than a nightmare away.

My Thoughts on The Obsession by Nora Roberts

This Book was an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down I kept sneaking back to it supposed to be cooking dinner and doing other things. But it is so well written and as usual, Nora Roberts, kick it up a notch with a wonderful romance and a twist of dark, suspenseful elements that just encourage you to keep reading.

This story was a little different in its construction the characters didn’t seem to always have full sentence conversations. It was a lot very short sentence structure when the characters were speaking to each other. All though it didn’t bother me, it was a bit difficult to follow once in awhile. It could have been that I read it on an e-reader and the setup of the is not like a normal book.

While I knew and figured out “who done it” about 3/4 of the way through, it did not stop me or ruin the ending at all. In fact, I kept waiting for something to happen and when it finally did, I was surprised that it was very different than what I was expecting. I love when that happens!

This author is a remarkable talent that is unlike anyone else in the industry. She consistently gives amazing stories, with beautiful detail that just brings you right into the middle of it and doesn’t shake you loose until the very end and. This book The Obsession stayed with me for several days after I finished. The mark a truely great story. Not to be missed!
