The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton: Review

The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton - cover

I have to say that I have only read two other Jaci Burton stories before as a standalone book and I enjoyed the heck out of them. So when I was given the opportunity to check out this upcoming book, I jumped at the chance.

Known for her spicy romance stories, this book is a smoldering romance featuring an awesome friends to lovers trope that I could not put down! Check out my thoughts below.

The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton - cover

Synopsis:
Wedding planner Honor Bellini is in Las Vegas for a work convention when she runs into her sister’s ex-fiancé, Owen Stone, who’s also in town for his craft brewery business. They’re both glad to see a familiar face from home…until a night of drinking leads to waking up in bed together—and a marriage certificate from a wedding that neither of them can recall.

Horrified, Owen suggests an immediate annulment. Honor agrees, but when they spend the day together, their chemistry is overwhelming. Plus, Honor has a flash of memory of their steamy wedding night, and she definitely likes what she remembers. They decide to wait before cancelling the whole marriage thing, though they both head back to Oklahoma determined not to tell anyone at home what happened in Vegas.

The problem is, Honor and Owen can’t seem to stay away from each other—or keep their hands off one another. The longer they keep their secret, the harder it gets to deny how they really feel. Even worse, this huge secret has the potential to hurt someone they both care about. They need to get an annulment before this accidental marriage turns into love.

The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton Review

First off, can we just say this cover is the bomb? It was what initially drew me to the book and I am so glad I decided to review it. And the pup in the corner?? Too cute!

I am a sucker for the accidental marriage trope and this one was pulled off perfectly. I loved both of the main characters as they had a true friendship going on for years. Plus, Owen is a sweetheart and so all in for Honor. The sparks were definitely flying throughout this one!

The story flowed beautifully and I was engrossed from the start. While I never read the other two stories in this series, I was good with following the storyline and connection between everyone.

There were a few inconsistencies that threw me off but with this copy being the Advance Reader copy, hopefully, they are corrected before publication. Plus, one area of drama was overplayed a bit but I think it was meant to be more of an excuse to stay together.

Overall, The Accidental Newlywed Game is fun, sexy, and a perfect afternoon read for romance and Happily Ever After lovers like me.

4 STARS!
