Something Just Like This by Jennifer Probst Updated

A number of years ago I was able to read this book when it came out as an Every 1001 Dark Knights novella. It’s an intro to a series and now it’s been updated a bit and is being re-released.

This is book one in the Stay series and book two will be released in a few weeks.

The story is a quick read, but it packs a punch. We have a gorgeous, famous mayor of New York City who’s running for governor, crushing on his ever-capable assistant.

She has been his right hand for over three years and manages anything and everything he needs. She is also secretly crushing on him.

Together they work seamlessly. There’s respect and deep attraction, smoldering longing. They know each other professionally and personally. I love the way the author starts that conversation. You can feel the awkwardness of the situation, yet that intense longing burning between them.

It’s little steps. Are they brave enough to attend public events as they are tiptoeing through a possible romance?

The story brings passion and even some swooning. He is so intensely in love with her. It is super sweet.

The story doesn’t really feel like a Novella. But it is a great pick-me-up and a sweet romance.
