My mother was full German so I have a lot of heritage in my blood when it comes to cooking and eating German style foods. My mom taught me to cook so naturally, much of my cooking methods are with a twist to the European methods.
One of my favorite meals that my mom cooked for me was Pork Roast and Spaetzle and not coincidentally, it is one of my families favorite meals too! Over the years, I have master the “art” of making a roast. Many of my relatives call for pointers when they want to enjoy a tasty roast.
Here is my simple and easy recipe for Pork Roast that you can enjoy too!
Simple Pork Roast Recipe
Ingredients:
4-5 lb pork roast – I prefer boneless
Lawrys Season Salt
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Fresh Cracked Pepper
2 cups Water
Directions
Layer on the seasonings to the roast. Place roast in a roasting pan and bake at 350 for about 30 – 45 minutes to brown the roast. Add 2 cups of water to the roasting pan and cover.
Continue to bake about 2 more hours. Check the roast for tenderness. It should be close to pull apart tender. If it is not, then re-cover and turn the heat to 300 for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour for super tender meat.
Pan Gravy Recipe
If you love gravy, after removing the roast from the pan, use the drippings to make pan gravy by adding a cup or two more water. You can transfer it to a pan or heat it in your roasting pan.
Sprinkle small amounts of flour or Wondra gravy flour into the pan stirring constantly and vigorously while bringing it to a boil. It will continue to thicken as it boils.
If you need it thicker, add small amounts of flour or Wondra while stirring.
Then re-season the gravy with the same seasonings above.
Serve with the meat. Perfect with small red or new potatoes or Spaetzle
