Shelter In The Storm by Laurel Blount: Review

Shelter In The Storm by Laurel Blount cover and review

I remember the first Amish/Plain people romance story I ever read. I was sent the book without realizing it was coming by a publisher so I read it.

It was refreshing and a beautiful story. Since then I have picked up several just for a change of pace. Today I am sharing another one I was able to review that is a fresh change of pace with a heartfelt clean Romance included.

Available next week, you can read my full review below.

OVERVIEW
Unspeakable tragedy strikes the Amish hamlet of Johns Mill when an unstable Englischer opens fire in the Hochstedler’s General Store. In the aftermath, and under the media’s spotlight, Joseph Hochstedler struggles to hold his shattered family together, drawing unexpected comfort from a faithful childhood friend.

Born with a serious heart defect, optimist Naomi Schrock has always longed to live a life of service. She rolls up her sleeves, determined to help Joseph cope with this terrible crisis. But dare she hope that his friendship will finally deepen into love?

As the media’s obsession with the Hochstedler shooting escalates, Joseph and Naomi find themselves caught between tradition and compromise, lingering sorrows and uncertain hopes. And in the end, two people who’ve already lost far too much must find the courage to trust their hearts one last time.

SHELTER IN THE STORM by Laurel Blount Review

This book has a lot of emotion tied to it. It is a story about picking up the pieces after everything has gone wrong. A violent senseless act that changes your family and the lives of those around you.

It’s also a story about community, giving to others, support, and finding that one person who was meant to be by your side regardless of challenges along the way. Shelter in the Storm is addicting. It is calming. The title is perfect. Even in the course of tragedy the written words have a peaceful affect on you.

The story is also based on Christianity and high beliefs in your faith. Learning, understanding, and doing the right thing regardless of what you want to do.

Blount tells a story with heart and depth. Through the trials and challenges, love can find you and will carry you through. This book celebrates that message and leaves a big smile on your face! Beautiful!
