Love You More by Emily Giffin: Review

cover of Love You More by Emily Giffin

Some authors just have a beautiful way of writing their stories. They twist your heart and emotions around so much you’re not sure if you’re supposed to laugh or cry.

This new release is one of those stories. It has a little bit of edginess to it in a love-hate trope of second-chance romance, and I have to say it had me wondering which way it would go until the very end. Check out my thoughts below.

OVERVIEW:
Billie has built the perfect life. Her medical practice in New York City is thriving, and she’s finally found the right partner in Dean after years spent trying to move on from her high-school sweetheart, Mick. Their young love had been intense and true, but distance and ambition pulled them apart when she left Wisconsin for medical school.

Then one morning, just after she’s accepted Dean’s romantic marriage proposal, Billie’s phone rings. It’s Mick—calling for the first time in nearly a decade. His news is urgent and in a moment, everything changes.

As Billie boards a plane back to Wisconsin, her past comes rushing in—her hometown friendships, the love she and Mick shared, and the choices that shaped them all. What awaits her is a reckoning with what she’s lost, what she’s built, and what she still wants.

Gripping and deeply moving, Love You More is a story about the plot twists life throws at us—and how love, in all its forms, has the power to change everything.

Love You More by Emily Giffin Review

I have to say this is the first time I’ve read this author, and I’m not sure why. She definitely has a beautiful talent for telling a story that sucks you straight in.

I have to admit I had a tough time with the theme of this one. Her characters are personable and likable. There was no bad person in this entire story. But heart-wrenching decisions were made. Circumstances created heartbreak, but when you look deep down, you have to listen to your heart.

Giffin created a story with heart and soul, and there were so many emotions packed in that I often felt tears rolling. The lightness outweighed the hard times, however, and we walked through the healing right along with the characters.

The end was tough for me, and the story overall was full of happiness and some sadness. But in the end, Giffin wrapped it up with a beautiful HEA and left me with a smile.

Overall, Love You More is for the die-hard romantics, but have those tissues ready.
