When you get to middle age, it is so much harder to lose the weight you want. And when you do lose weight, it is tiny bits at a time. One wrong food and I bounce right back to where I was. It can be so frustrating and even make you just want to give up sometimes! But I know that I have come too far to give up, so looking for some ways to kick start and shock my system into losing weight brought me to checking out a meal replacement product line.
Just like you, I have tried many different items in the meal replacement arena before. But they were mainly mass marketed mainstream products that were loaded with sugars (High Carbs!) and not loaded with proteins and vitamins. I found a product from IdealShape, LLC that was both low in natural sugar and higher in protein. Plus they added in fiber and 22 vitamins and minerals. This sounded like a product I could use in my low carb lifestyle.
The IdealShape meal replacement plan for weight-loss includes shakes and bars. They also offer a weight loss booster drink, and supplements that help kick start your metabolism. I tried their IdealShake in Vanilla to see how it would help me.
What I liked about the IdealShake is their unique blend of all-whey protein, fiber and a powerful hunger-blocker called Slendesta® which is an all-natural potato protein extract with no reported side effects. The powder was pretty fine and it blended really well. It is perfect for a meal replacement on its own or to add to a smoothie for an additional boost for your morning meal or afternoon pick me up.
The taste was good although I did find it a bit on the sweet side as they use Sucralose. According to Wikipedia:
Sucralose is found in many food and beverage products, used because it is a no-calorie sweetener, does not promote dental cavities,[15] is as safe for consumption by diabetics and nondiabetics,[16][17] and does not affect insulin levels.[18]
IdealShape says that this shake will keep the hunger pains away for up to three hours and I did find that to be about right. I usually am munching on something within a three hour window anyway so this was just the right coverage for me. The product is not super thick and it did not upset or bother my tummy at all.
As far as my weight loss results, I have only used it for breakthrough hunger and early morning meals at this point. I plan on using it twice a day this coming month to prepare for a trip. I think it is a great addition to my travel munchies too! I just put a scoop in a mini zip snack bag and when I get a 1/2 a bottle of water, I dump it in. Works great for me on the go and at work!
If you are interested in dropping some pounds, check out the Complete IdealShape Weight Loss Plans. I think this product is one I can use in my low carb lifestyle and for weight loss or even maintenance, once I get where I am going. I am going to check out the bars at some point and different flavors of the shake too.
