How to Use a Fitness Plan for Working Out

If you’re like me you can easily find that getting your fitness in on a daily basis can be a struggle. With my crazy schedule I often find myself missing my workouts. I realized, of course, it’s my own fault. But what can I do to make it easier?

So I decided that since fitness is a priority to me, it needs to be treated just like anything else on my calendar. So now I schedule my workout on my calendar so that I hopefully don’t miss them.

But even going one step further than that I have been working on a fitness plan.

What’s a fitness plan? It is a way to incorporate many different types of fitness into your week so that you get a fully rounded work out, plus shake up your routine and body too. Here are same ways how to use a fitness plan in your life.

Some examples a fitness plan would be similar to this:

* Three days of cardio – 30 to 45 minutes – including HIIT – high intensity interval training
* Strength training – three days a week – 45 minutes each
* Swimming 3 to 4 days a week – alternating with strength training during bad weather
* One day of recovery

The reason for using a fitness plan is so you can monitor what you’re working on and target specific areas of your body. For me, I need some cardio to lose the weight. But I also need strength training to help me define and tone the muscles.

I enjoy weightlifting and I also love swimming so by alternating the two in my calendar and I can get them both in. Plus, I really can’t swim right now so I’m doing more of the weight training and the water aerobics will come in summer or when I can get to the gym.

So now I can calendar the days that I work on specific areas and specific workouts. This way it helps me on busier days to get up early and do some cardio and then leave the strength training for days I’m not as busy working.

Plus, alternating your fitness will help you with your toning and weightloss too. That is always a win!
