If there’s one thing that I’ve learned over the years of healthful eating is that the quality of the food you’re putting in your body really matters. I’ve also learned that my system needs a lot of protein to keep me from running on empty.
Meat snacks are a great way to add a quick bite if you cannot make it through to your next meal, or if you’re not overly hungry and want a good alternative to a full size meal. One concern for those on a keto based diet is the sugars found in grocery story meat snacks. They can quickly throw you out of whack!

Healthy Keto Snack: Apex BackCountry Protein Stick
It kind of goes without saying that guys absolutely love jerky/meat snacks. Each year at Christmas my son and my husband both love getting jerky in their stockings.
This year I’m super excited to be able to share with them a delicious meat snack that is both hearty and wholesome. I was able to check out the brand new flavor from Apex Protein Snacks called the BackCountry Kansas City Barbecue. This is a beef stick with a minimal sugar and the flavor is spot on.
I was concerned because I did not want an overwhelming flavor of BBQ and these were subtle enough with a slight kick at the end. Full of flavor and Delicious! 90 Cal, and 9G of protein. Perfect! These are just right for a keto snack for me without the guilt or worry!
Apex has several other flavors in game protein made with venison, elk, bison, and boar. A couple of these even include jalapeño for those that enjoy your spicy kick. Apex Protein snacks are available as bars, bites, biltong, or sticks.
I’m ordering these for stocking stuffers this year. Plus, they’re fabulous to keep in the car or your backpack, take it to work for a snack, throw it in your briefcase, purse, what have you. My desk drawer has several of them already for an emergency stash! They are a good size and filling.
I was surprised at the flavor, quality, and I thoroughly enjoyed these snacks. Plus, I think they were great value. There’s 12 snacks in the box which is just over two dollars per protein stick. I think that’s pretty darn good.
Delicious, made in the US, and fast shipping means these are definite win. They’re damn near addicting!
