My hubby likes to do projects around the house every so often. Well, let me rephrase that. He likes to do random projects, just for the heck of it.

Last year it was building a ramp for our old dog who could not get up on the bed anymore. It was a beautiful piece of art actually. Even though it took him a while, it’s extremely sturdy, with carpet and treads so he could climb it. Plus, it worked great for the time we needed it. My Louie passed on a few months ago

The spring hubby decided to make his own planter boxes because we have gobs of organic seed that someone gave us. So he started this massive project in the garage so that we could grow some of our own produce this summer.

Some of the produce he chose are really not favorites that I would eat on a normal basis due to a later planting. So hopefully my neighbors like us when it’s harvest time. 🙂 I don’t think I even know what is exactly planted other than some squash, radishes, corn, watermelon will go in on the ground… and I am not sure what else. Yikes! Surprise veggies!

But anyway these planter boxes are massive. He made two of them and they sit on the side yard. They’ll never be moved again due to the amount of drainage rock and soil in each box. But the plants seem to be doing pretty good.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the boxes prior to planting and the success so far. Some of the plants didn’t make it and to be honest I do not know what is what since he is the one that researched and planted which plant should go next to another plant.

I’m sure they’ll be more to come as will have late summer plantings. I am excited about the corn though. I love corn on the cob. Yum

This is our first attempt at an actual garden space. Hopefully it’s a success, and hopefully my garage will be clean again someday! 🙂 HA!

Do you have a garden? What is your favorite thing to plant and enjoy? I need to be prepared for next season with more of my favorites.
