Five Artistic Ideas for Your Kiddo’s Bedroom Makeover

Winter presents an ideal opportunity for some home improvements. Getting the kids involved means that you can keep an eye on them in the safety on your nice, warm home. So, why not focus on the little one’s bedroom over the chilly season and ask them to help you out? Here are some ideas on what you can do with their room.

Wall art

Giving the walls a lick of paint changes the whole feel of a room, as well as making it look smarter and cleaner. While you’re cracking on with the walls, why not get the little one to paint their own picture that can be framed and hung up on the feature wall once it’s finished? Give them some paints, crayons or chalks, wrap them in an old shirt and let them get creative. They’ll also feel like part of the process, adding their own personality.

Nice and tidy

Winter is the perfect time to get rid of clutter and get items in order. If your child is over a few years old, they can help out with this! Get them to go through their toy box, craft box and anything-goes-in-it box with you. Decide on what can be given to charity stores, what can go in the attic and what they want to keep in the room (they’ll probably find it hard to part with too many things, so be patient!). Then you can both decorate boxes with homemade labels and arrange them in a way that suits your child.

Chalkboard

If your kid doesn’t already have a chalkboard, then it’s a good idea to invest in some chalkboard paint! Cover the back of a door, the front panel of a wardrobe or even a bit of wall space, with the paint. Then give them an array of chalks to use. They’ll have hours of fun and it’s an original way of infusing the room with extra color. It also keeps them busy on those long, winter nights.

New bed covers

With so many themed bed covers out there at the moment, kids can get really excited about bedtime! Whether it’s their favorite cartoon character, city, music artist or pattern — they’ll be a bed set that takes your kid’s eye. Take them on a trip to the store and they can pick it out for themselves! This is also a good time to see if they need a new mattress and check that your child is comfortable in their room.

Film projector

Setting up a film projector in your child’s room can be fun for the whole family. You can all come together on a night and huddle together with some popcorn while watching your favorite Christmas movie. It’s a really cool thing to have and friends can come round for a movie night too! Be sure to put the projector machine away properly afterwards, away from small fingers!
