There are some authors that just have an amazing ability to create books that entertain and engage no matter how many stories they create. JD Robb is one of those authors and her series about Inspector Eve Dallas has been a long term series that I have enjoyed. In fact, this new release which I was asked to review is number 43, which is astounding to even think of in terms of an author producing!
The fact that JD Robb, otherwise known as Nora Roberts, has the ability to come up with unique storylines is an amazing testimony to her strength as an author. I can’t say that I’ve read all 43 books in this slightly futuristic police thriller series, but I can say that I have read a large number of them and have enjoyed everyone.

Nature versus nurture…
The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park’s ice-skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be.
Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD but never one like this. A review of the security videos reveals that the victims were killed with a tactical laser rifle fired by a sniper, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled. And though the list of locations where the shooter could have set up seems endless, the number of people with that particular skill set is finite: police, military, professional killer.
Eve’s husband, Roarke, has unlimited resources—and genius—at his disposal. And when his computer program leads Eve to the location of the sniper, she learns a shocking fact: There were two—one older, one younger. Someone is being trained by an expert in the science of killing, and they have an agenda. Central Park was just a warm-up. And as another sniper attack shakes the city to its core, Eve realizes that though we’re all shaped by the people around us, there are those who are just born evil…
Thoughts on Apprentice in Death by J.D. Robb
This story is extremely captivating and showcases her unique ability to tell amazing stories. It’s hard to actually review one of her books because she’s just such a great storyteller that it seems useless other than to say that this book is yet one more reason why she is a go to when looking for a strong thriller that takes you through many twists and turns.
I love every character in this book and in the series and getting to know the characters in depth is one of the great parts about reading a JD Robb book. Roarke is a favorite of mine and the stories wouldn’t be the same without him or her other side kicks, like Peabody.
Once again the author has nailed a great story. One to not only entertain you for hours at a time but also leave you with that craving for the next story yet to come. JD Robb is an author I never get tired of reading.

I’ve been reading this series from the very beginning and can’t wait to dig into this new one!! Having that many books in one series is a phenomenal thing that very few writers could accomplish with enough skill to pull it off successfully
It was great, Donna. I love this series so much! Hope you enjoy it 🙂
