My Serious Addiction to French Soap (and Other Handcrafted Ones)

French Bar Soaps

I have a confession to make.

If you are going by the title of this post, then you already know what I am going to say. I do have a serious addiction to French bar soap. But not only do the French processes make awesome soap, but also Italian soap, and even many handcrafted soap makers where I live make amazing soaps.

So why do I share this with you? It all started when I started reading labels.

Being a product reviewer can be dangerous! After all, we take the time to learn about products in-depth to share them with you. That meant reading labels and learning much more about skincare than I ever knew before (and I knew a lot!) meant I started reverting to more natural products.

The ingredient list on commercial products and some skin care products are scary! If I was choosing more natural products for my face and body, clothes, cleaning, etc., then how could I ignore the bar soap that was easy to pick up at the store?

One of my favorite places to check out different soaps is World Market aka Cost Plus. I love that place! The first time I spied the bar soaps there, I have to admit, I went a bit crazy! All of the wonderful scents and types! I was in heaven. I think I bought 6 different ones!

Then I tried one of them and that was it. The lather and the moisture coming from the soap were amazing! I fell in love with french milled and handcrafted soaps.

What I learned too was that even though they may be a bit more in cost, they last 2-3 times as long! A commercial bar like Dove or Caress, which are what I used to use lasted a few weeks, maybe a month if I was lucky. Handcrafted and premium bar soaps like these will last me 6-8 weeks per bar!

Every time I go to Marshalls, another one of my favorite places to buy soap, I discover new brands. The Italian brand pictured above is awesome! The scent is amazing. The lather is a delight, and my skin loves it all! I found an awesome exfoliating bar at Marshall’s and I cannot wait to find more of those!

I love to hit up local vendors too! Some of these home-based businesses make fabulous soaps! Oh, I love their creativity and attention to detail.

I am never without 3-5 bars in my house at any given time. I refuse to run out!

So next time you are at Marshalls, World Market, or a local craft show, take a look at those awesome bar soaps. They even have ones the guys will like too!
