I have had the pleasure of reviewing several books by biomechanist Katy Bowman in the past few years and I am always astounded by her straightforward different look at how your body works as it pertains to fitness, exercise and your over all well being. Even learning about your feet and how they affect your lifestyle in Whole Body Barefoot was an eye opener.
Now Katy has released an awesome set of DVD’s and downloads, plus a whole site packed with workouts and exercises that your body needs to keep moving. Called movement supplements, the two new DVD releases; Nutritious Movement Daily Movement Multivitamin and Nutritious Movement for a Healthy Pelvis are an easy to use way to get help to strengthen and utilize your body properly.
Each DVD includes exercises, stretches, and alignment tips to help all bodies to improve the nutrition of their current movement diet. The DVDs are available now at Amazon.com and www.nutritiousmovement.com/shop. They may also be downloaded at www.NutritiousMovement.com

As the name implies, the Daily Movement Multivitamin fills in the movement gaps left by many conventional fitness programs. Sore feet, headaches, backaches, aching knees, digestive problems, cardiovascular disease, and so many more ailments can be symptoms of a poor movement diet.
This DVD hits the reset button to help nourish what Bowman considers the “sticky spots” in the body. It includes a standing and a floor sequence, a posture recap, a five-step alignment lesson and a printable exercise routine. Some props are helpful including a chair, bolster or towel, a yoga block or thick book and a yoga strap (or even a long scarf). It is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.
Nutritious Movement for a Healthy Pelvis takes a whole-body, holistic approach to improving the strength, mobility, health and function to the pelvis naturally. You won’t find any kegels spot-treating the issue here. The DVD provides six foundational exercises, five advanced exercises, a three-minute flowing routine and a printable reference guide. The same props are useful. It will benefit men and women of all ages and fitness levels.
I am sold on Katy’s work and now these exercise DVD’s. She brings us years of study of how our body works and has developed smart doses of targeted exercise necessary for a long life full of movement. She shares so much information including tips on how to align your feet and body properly. Movements that you can use throughout the day to help build and strengthen muscles.
I know for a fact that I need to move to stay flexible and strong. I recently took a long trip by car and every day I was moving like I was 105 years old. Normally, I spend 60-75 minutes working out, swimming, and standing at my work desk for hours at a time. I do not normally have those aches and pains that sitting gives me on a daily basis.
These dvd’s are easy to follow and the movements are not difficult. Katy is all about safety, plus many of these movements you will want to work on slowly to start building muscles and changing the way you move and stand. From floor work to standing movements, these 2 DVD’s are loaded with movement tips and exercises to develop a more flexible and structurally sound body for the ease of daily life.
The entire Nutritious Movement website is loaded with info, podcasts, her blog, plus facts and tips to get your healthy body moving the way nature intended.

Don’t Just Sit There
I learned that the creator of this system is trained in how the body works.
I learned that Your cells respond to nutritious movement the way they respond to a healthy diet.
The Movement Multivitamin DVD seems like it would be a great way to start. This stuff makes a lot of sense, since there are a lot of elements of body mechanics that aren’t often addressed in home fitness regimens.
I like that you can get digital downloads for specific topics like toes and calves. I am very interested in these videos especially the pelvic exercises. No attention is given to these exercises in regular routines.
I learned about her book and that standing with all your weight on your feet is bad for health.
Move Your DNA looks interesting.
Don’t Just Sit There.
I’ve borrowed several of the Aligned & Well videos from the library this past week. I’ve had asthma for years, and I found it fascinating that stretching the tissues around my lungs can help my lungs expand more to the side, and increase my ability to breathe freely. My body seems to really love the A&W exercises I’ve tried! Thank you for entering me in the giveaway!
The exercise videos are my first choice, but I would also like to read’ Move Your DNA: Restore Your Health Through Natural Movement’.
i would love to get the Alignment Snacks: Frankie Says Relax the Psoas
I am a huge fan of Katy Bowman. She has taught me many things, but the main lesson is JUST MOVE.
I would like the Pelvis Dvd, and whole Body Barefoot.
Please pick me!
I own all of Katy’s books, but I wasn’t familiar with the content of these DVDs. I’d love to get them to share with friends and family.
