It’s strange, the things you notice as you start maturing, especially in menopause.
Your skin starts changing. It’s subtle: a wrinkle here, a spot there. Then one day you look in the mirror, and you’re like, what the heck happened? Who’s that?
It’s also interesting to realize that what you used to wear on your skin doesn’t seem as effective anymore; the foundation is too powdery or the color seems off. The moisturizer is not working like it used to.
I’ve been on the hunt for the past year or two for the right foundation for my changing skin. What I used to use wasn’t cutting it anymore.
I couldn’t find the right color for one. That’s always been a challenge for me because my skin has a little bit of an olive undertone, so I need a Neutral or even a Warm Neutral in the Summer.
Even when I go to stores like Ulta or Sephora, most of the time I end up with the wrong color because they want to sell me what they’re promoting, not necessarily what’s best for my skin. Ugh.
That is one of the reasons I became a rep with MaryKay. I wanted real help and the right products when I needed it! (Plus the prices are out of line!)
I’ve been hearing a lot about the CC Cream from Mary Kay. Many of the reps I know love using it, but several say the colors are not always right, or they have to blend two colors to get what’s perfect for their skin tone.

When my last expensive purchase from Ulta became a flat, zero-dimension, expensive mistake, I decided to try the CC Cream with my next order. I got the Light to Medium, and I was 100% surprised at how perfect the color is for my skin.
It blends in flawlessly, and it feels so amazing on my skin. I wish I’d tried it years ago. Plus, the price is great.
There are some women I know that use this as a base and then use Timewise Foundation on top of it for more coverage. But I’m perfect with CC Cream as it stands because I can always apply a second thin layer if I need it.
With all of that information, I thought I would give you some tips for mature skin when you’re looking for foundation.
Foundation Tip for Mature Skin: Sometimes LESS really is MORE!
If your foundation is starting to feel heavy or seems to emphasize every little line, try swapping your full-coverage foundation for CC Cream on casual days. (I use it daily now!)
A few of my favorite tips:
- Start with well-moisturized skin.
- Apply a small amount of CC Cream to the center of your face and blend up and outward.
- Build coverage only where you need it instead of adding another full layer.
- Use concealer strategically around the eyes or on areas of discoloration.
Want a little more coverage?
Let your CC Cream set for a minute, then add a light layer of foundation like TimeWise® Luminous 3D Foundation.
The goal for mature skin isn’t to cover everything. It’s to create a fresh, even complexion that still looks like YOU.
Mary Kay CC Cream gives you lightweight complexion correction, hydration, brightening, and SPF 15 — perfect for those days when you want an easy, natural-looking finish.
