Getting and staying in the habit of going for a walk each day can be a bit of a challenge. But that’s exactly what we need to do to make it stick and to make a change in our health.

If you need help getting in the habit of walking more, check out these 4 tips to help you.

4 Ways To Get In The Habit Of Walking More

1) Find a Walking Route You Enjoy
It will help to make your new habit easier and even pleasurable. Your favorite walk may offer beautiful sights, but if it’s a 30 minute drive there and back, you’ll be less likely to do it every single day.

Instead, save that walk for the weekends and come up with something convenient and enjoyable for your everyday walking routine. Map a route in your own neighborhood so you can walk whenever you have time, without getting in the car. Remove the excuses!

2) Take the Same Route Every Day to Form the Habit
They say it take 14 days to make a habit stick. Taking the same route will help develop that habit and it is also encouraging to track your time, if you are walking the same loop. Plus you will notice less aches and pains or huffing and puffing as time goes by too! It proves that you’re making a difference in your body by getting stronger and increasing your fitness.

3) Listen to Your Favorite Music, Podcast or Audio Books
It will make the time go by faster and give you something else to look forward to. You can even use your favorite media as a way to bribe yourself to go for your daily walk. If you enjoy music, set up a workout with all of the tracks you love with a great beat. It will help your pace and encourage movement.

4) Walk with Other People
Find a walking group in your area, or talk a friend or neighbor into becoming your walking buddy. Not only is it more fun to walk when you have someone to talk to, it also has some built in accountability. It is harder to skip a walking workout when you know that other people are waiting for you and relying on you to join them.

Give these 4 tips a try to make walking a daily habit, plus become an integral part of your health, your fitness, and your life.
