Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey: Review

Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey cover

I thought I had the pleasure of reading a few books for this author as I feel so comfortable reading this book. But this is my first apparently, and it was a true delight. Bailey is amazing at writing the deep romance that some of us really crave.

At first, I thought this was going to be a romantic comedy but I was so very wrong about that. This story is a deep, romantic connection that you have to read to experience and understand. Continue on for my review.

SYNOPSIS:
Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother’s band on live TV, Mel begins to wonder if it’s time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life… and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.

Beat Dawkins, the lead singer’s son, is Melody’s opposite—the camera loves him, he could charm the pants off anyone, and his mom is not a potential cult leader. Still, they might have been best friends if not for the legendary feud that broke up the band. When they met as teenagers, Mel felt an instant spark, but it’s nothing compared to the wild, intense attraction that builds as they embark on a madcap mission to convince their mothers to perform one last show.

While dealing with rock star shenanigans, a 24-hour film crew, brawling Santas, and mobs of adoring fans, Mel starts to step out of her comfort zone. With Beat by her side, cheering her on, she’s never felt so understood. But Christmas Eve is fast approaching, and a decades-old scandal is poised to wreck everything—the Steel Birds reunion, their relationships with their mothers, and their newfound love.

Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey Review

Sometimes I really hate the beginning of romantic novels. That might sound funny, but I love the endings of this type of story so much that it kind of ticks me off I have to go through so much to get there.

That’s not a bad thing, however, especially when you are delivered a book like this one.

As I said, in the beginning, I thought this was going to be a romcom because of the cover, but the story is an incredible tribute to finding that person you find that soulmate level connection with.

I’m almost at a loss for words on how to describe this book. The author has done an extremely difficult job in creating these characters that are just so connected, that they could breathe for each other. The tactile soul, piercing tenderness, and depth of emotion that Bailey was able to wrangle with her words are quite intense in many parts of the story.

Bailey has a wicked way of weaving her words that guide us into submission because it’s just so damn beautiful. The entire theme and plot of the story are brilliant, and honestly, I can’t even compare this to another story that I’ve read. Not to mention it’s steaming hot as well because of the main characters’ intense connections.

For the reader who craves true romance with that soul-crushing intensity that includes the highs and the lows, this book delivers all of that and more. Tessa Bailey has created a romantic masterpiece. This is a book you will reread many times. I guarantee it.

5 Fantastic STARS!
