Some days I get tired of stories full of drama and angst. After all, don’t we read to get away from drama in our lives? An escape, of sorts. I know that is why I read so much!

So I love to grab a feel good heartwarming book by an author you know will deliver what your heart needs. Here is a great one to choose from! Read my thoughts and review below.

SYNOPSIS:
Dakota thought she had left her dreams of happily-ever-after behind, along with the pain of a broken engagement to her high school sweetheart, Hudson. Now, as the proud owner of Fairytale Bridal Shop in the picturesque town of Flowering Grove, she’s built a life and a business on helping brides find their perfect dress for their own fairytale weddings. But running a small business is not for the faint of heart, and when her ex-fiancé unexpectedly returns to town with a mission—to put a stop to his sister’s wedding—Dakota’s problems go from bad to worse.

Hudson Garrity should be living his dream. After selling his software company, he’s single, handsome, and rich, but an unexpected call from his baby sister has him flying down to his hometown, determined to protect Layla from yet another big mistake. Though he’s single-minded in his effort to derail the nuptials, he instead finds himself thrown into family chaos and roped into helping his sister with her plans . . . bringing him once more into contact with Dakota Jamison, the one who got away.

For Hudson, coming home means revisiting his painful childhood, repairing a strained relationship with his sister, and coming face-to-face with the woman he never stopped loving. For Dakota, it means confronting the tender memories she buried deep within her heart. As Layla’s wedding date draws close, the two reunited lovers begin to question if what went wrong between them really happened the way they remembered it at all. Will they continue believing the lies they’ve told themselves, or will they remain forever entangled in the threads of what could have been?

With This Ring by Amy Clipston Review

I love reading second-chance romances. I mean, who hasn’t thought about the “what if” guy from your past? Especially when it was a what if we could have worked it out and communicated better, or not given up too soon. Plus, news flash… you always get a happily ever after!

The premise of the book got my attention and rightfully so. The female lead is proud, over worked, and stubborn in her quest for success with her dream business. The male lead character is caring, never stops loving her, and wants to help her. But with that comes issues.

Clipston develops the story with engaging interactions between friends and family, continually connecting Dakota and Hudson due to the small-town proximity. But all was not well between them initially. We can feel the hurt and pain, both needing to find forgiveness and healing and especially knowing how to communicate with each other.

With This Ring is a powerful reminder that the heart can heal if we open our minds, listen, and forgive ourselves and others. I love the way the author allowed the characters to grow with their self-realization of what was needed to love again.

This is a clean romance about family connections with a super slow building second chance. I do wish it had more after the reconnection.

3.5 to 4 STARS!!
