When We Fall by Marquita Valentine

Sometimes waiting for the sequel is tough, especially when you love a series like I do this one. The good news is that the Take the Fall series by Marquita Valentine are stand-alones with tie in’s to the other books. That means we are not having to wait for the happy ever after or to clear a cliffhanger… we can just read and enjoy!

I was excited for this book to come out. I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 – Take the Fall and just knew that this second in the series was going to be great too. Check out my review below.

The last time Piper Ross saw her best friend’s sexy older brother, Jase Simmons, he was being taken away in handcuffs. Seven years later, two things haven’t changed: Piper is still head-over-heels in love with him . . . and Forrestville’s chief of police—Piper’s dad—still hates his guts. So when Piper sees a chance to get close to Jase, she makes her move—literally. As his new roommate, and as the office manager of his tattoo shop, Piper won’t be satisfied until Jase knows that she wants to be his.

The quintessential good girl, Piper is pure temptation for Jase. The only reason he’s always kept his distance is because she’s the last person he’d ever want to hurt. But once he realizes that Piper is ready to take the leap, everything just makes sense. Suddenly Jase feels like a new man—until nasty rumors start swirling and Piper’s heartless father stirs up even more trouble. Now Jase must convince Piper that she wasn’t wrong about him . . . because falling in love never felt so right.

My Thoughts:
When I read a sequel or a portion of a series, I always like to go back and read my reviews and thoughts about the characters. It helps me to refresh my mind on the story and prepare for the next installment.

We met the main characters of this new release in Take The Fall and I knew that they would be an awesome pair and I was not wrong. I totally fell for bad boy, Jase. He is a sweetheart and has it bad for Piper, just as she has it bad for him. I was waiting for the drama and angst often found in stories such as these, but thankfully this book has very little and what there was cleared rather quickly. I Love that!

The author crafted two complete opposites in this story that totally work. I love the way they are together and how they have to work with each other to make it work. Their relationship became almost idealistic once they realized it could be, but I loved it! There is plenty of steam and heat between these two!

This author is gifted with her storytelling ability and her smooth writing. This book is a rather quick read that is refreshing and enjoyable all the way through. Definitely an author to put on your must read list if you love romances and contemporary fiction!
