It has been a year and a half since I have been able to get out of town for any length of time. That’s the longest stretch of time I can remember being stuck at home.
So over my birthday weekend my husband, my son, his girlfriend, and I took a trip over to Carmel. It was the perfect weekend.
It’s funny because I live just two hours from this area but I don’t ever get a chance to explore it. I couldn’t tell you the last time I’ve been to Big Sur so that was definitely on my bucket list.
My son and his girlfriend are really good at finding neat places things to do and they found this secret waterfall right into the ocean. Well, it’s really not a big secret, but we definitely had that on the list. It included a short hike to the viewing area and such beauty! Awesome to see!
Visiting Big Sur and the Monterey Coast
We stayed at a boutique hotel in Monterey, had a fabulous meal at one of my favorite restaurants, Stammisch, which serves amazing German food, and just had a fabulous day overall.
We spent time at Cannery Row and explored Monterey a bit. Even the sea lions helped make it special by being incredibly active and playful while we were enjoying the sea air. I could live here no questions asked!
