For me, getting swept away by a book can be tough. I can be a jaded reader to a degree and it takes a special story to really affect me. This book is that special story that you have to pick up. This new release I reviewed is a saga that is deep, emotional, heartbreaking and yet full of new life too. A definite surprise from a talented author.

National bestselling author Robin Wells weaves a moving epic that stretches from modern-day Louisiana to World War II-era New Orleans and back again in this multigenerational tale of love, loss and redemption.
Hope Stevens thinks Wedding Tree, Louisiana, will be the perfect place to sort out her life and all the mistakes she’s made. Plus, it will give her the chance to help her free-spirited grandmother, Adelaide, sort through her things before moving into assisted living.
Spending the summer in the quaint town, Hope begins to discover that Adelaide has made some mistakes of her own. And as they go through her belongings, her grandmother recalls the wartime romance that left her torn between two men and haunted by a bone-chilling secret. Now she wants Hope’s help in uncovering the truth before it’s too late.
Filled with colorful characters, The Wedding Tree is an emotionally riveting story about passion, shattered dreams, unexpected renewal and forgiveness—not only for others, but for ourselves.
My Thoughts:
As I mentioned above, it takes a special story to get to me and I was deeply surprised by the depth and emotion this story held. This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by this author. Not only was I emotionally tied to this story, the further I got into the story, the more I could not put it down for any length of time.
Told from several points of view we get a 3 part story from Addie, Hope and Matt. The story takes us through a heartbreaking WWII romance and then back to today. Secrets abound in Addie that she has been holding onto over over 60 years. Secrets that no one knows and could change her entire family. But Addie has to tell the stories to find the truth and release her guilt and own up to her mistakes before she dies.
Hope is grateful to be able to help her Grandmother and has her own issues too. Burned by her ex, she is afraid she is falling for Matt, Addie’s next door neighbor, and that would be a disaster in her eyes. Matt is just as affected by Hope and wonders if he is the one to help him get over the loss of his wife.
The author has crafted a powerful read that is will bring you though a lot of different emotions. The story is one of love, loss, despair, shocking truths, healing hearts, forgiveness, and renewal. I shed a few tears and smiled a few times too as I followed along with this deeply touching novel. With the flavor of today’s contemporary fiction interspersed with a saga storyline, this book will be loved by readers of many different genre’s.
Robin Wells has a writing style that will suck you in and leave you wanting more. I was thrilled to see that this is going to be a series. If this book is any indication of what’s to come, I am all in. 5 Stars!
