Several years ago I was able to review a John Lansing book called Blonde Cargo and I absolutely loved it. I had vowed to continue to read his works because of his great writing style and the action filled story.
Fast forward to today, three plus years later, and I finally picked up my second book. And, sadly because I got sidetracked with other books along way, I now need to backtrack and do some major reading. But, I am so pleased to see the author has not lost his touch! Just as explosive and thrilling as I remembered his writing to be. Check out my review on:
The Fourth Gunman by John Lansing
Series: The Jack Bertolino Series (Book 4)
Publisher: Gallery Books/Karen Hunter Publishing (April 3, 2018)
ISBN-13: 978-150118953
Retired inspector Jack Bertolino straddles two perilous worlds. Known for his impeccable police work, Jack has also done a priceless favor for an infamous Mafia Don: he saved the gangster’s kidnapped daughter from being sold into the sex trade, and brought her safely home.
In Jack’s line of work, he can’t help but have friends—and enemies—on both sides of the law.
So when FBI agent Luke Hunter goes missing after a deep undercover assignment with that same mob boss, the FBI calls Jack in looking for a favor. With his connections and skills, Jack’s the only man for the job: find Luke Hunter, dead or alive.
The mobster operates an illegal gambling yacht in international waters off of Southern California, and when Luke went missing, so did half a million dollars of the mob’s money. As Jack dives into the case, he’ll learn the true mystery isn’t the agent’s disappearance, but something far more ominous…
The Fourth Gunman by John Lansing Review
The Fourth Gunman is an awesome new installment in the series about Jack, ex-cop and PI. Still a badass even though it’s been several years since we were together personally. He’s still able to have me at the edge of my seat with his crazy cases and the ability to have friends in high, and a few low places, that can help him out in a pinch.
I love Jack. His smart wit, street sense, sex appeal, and dry humor is everything I love. Not to mention the fact that even at his advanced age he can still mix it up with the best of them. Kidding… about the age thing, anyway!
This plot is inventive and imaginative but yet so damn believable. It’s actually scary to think about, but that is what a great storyteller does. And make no mistake, John Lansing is a great storyteller.
If you love action packed stories that include crime, police procedural action, mob stories, doublecrossing, terrorist threat, and a ton of mystery’s in the dark, The Fourth Gunman is a great read that you will hate to put down. John Lansing is making a fabulous literary statement with this awesome book. Grab it!
