Cops, crime and a great suspenseful plot all come together in this new release. Part three in a series, this can be read as a stand alone, but why would you want to… This author has cracked the code on how to tell a creepy, twisted story and I, for one, enjoyed the mental visuals that leaves you shaking your head. Detective Helen Grace is on the trail of a twisted serial killer in this riveting thriller in the “gripping”* international bestselling series.
Ruby wakes up in a strange room. Her captor calmly explains that no one is looking for her. No one wants her. Except him.
When the body of a woman is found buried on a secluded beach, Detective Helen Grace is called to the scene. She knows right away that the killer is no amateur. The woman has been dead for years, and no one has even reported her missing. But why would they? She’s still sending text messages to her family.
Helen is convinced that a criminal mastermind is at work: someone very smart, very careful, and worst of all, very patient. But as she struggles to piece together the killer’s motive, time is running out for a victim who is still alive…
My Thoughts on The Doll’s House
This series features Helen Grace, a police detective who seems to catch the serial murder crimes to solve. Weaving in and out of the crime is a secondary story. I was at a slight disadvantage because I had not read the other two books in the series so I did kind of miss some of the back story with the police detectives and the love/hate backstabbing stories. However, the story did reveal itself the further you got along into the book itself as Helen Grace has to defend herself against her peers as well as try and solve the crime when the pressure is on.
The crime the detectives in the department are trying to solve is a creepy one. The author does a wonderful job with this suspense and the whodunnit portion of it and you really never know who it is until the very ending. The author was a marvel at writing a heart pounding, thrilling story, especially the ending! I had to keep reading faster and faster because I just couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen.
The best part of this book is definitely the development of the crime in the characters and in the victim. The author relays the feelings, thoughts, and conversations the victim is going through and it is like you are in their mind as they are fighting to survive. The author really delves into the depth of emotion a crime victim feels and that makes for a powerful read.
This is definitely a book you want to check it out if you like this genre. I’m going back to read the other two because I love the suspenseful, thrilling story the author gives you in this book. The Doll’s House is worth the read. Great job!
