The other day I posted a giveaway for this book as I had not had the chance to read it before publication. Today I am here to tell you, you need to read this book!
I finally got to read it for review and it was nothing like I expected. I was thinking along the lines of contemporary woman’s fiction. So I was thrilled when it was actually a romance story with plenty of depth and character.
The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller reminds me so much of the Hudson Valley series by Alice Clayton – a fun, flirty farm to table series. Louise Miller offers the same feeling with this addition to the city girl and country boy love story.
I loved the characters involved in this story! They are unique and quirky in a lovable way. You get the full range – from a cantankerous old softy with big secrets to a soft spoken man with a tender heart and a love of music. And speaking of music, if you love folk and Americana classics, this book offers delightful surprises along the way.
This book is a wonderful surprise in and of itself, both in the story and in the authors writing skills. A beautiful and sweet story not to be missed by romance lovers or even by those that enjoy contemporary women’s fiction. Louise Miller is definitely an author to watch. This novel is a delight in so many ways!
