I know from experience how hard it can be to start a weight-loss program and healthy lifestyle immersion. Like I said in my book review just the other day, Eat Well, Move Well, Live Well, it can be overwhelming because are so many areas that you have to change.
One of the first things that I did when I decided enough was enough was to get up off my butt, literally. I moved my working area aka my desk, where I spent 6 to 8 hours a day, sometimes more, sitting on my tail.
I knew the long hours of sitting was going to kill me if I didn’t make a change. My legs were swelling; I was swollen and I was starting to have difficulty even moving. So I figured I having to stand at my desk it would get the blood flowing and at least put me on the path to changes.
So over year ago I made the change to standing while working. It was so hard. I had to change my shoes several times a day. I would take little breaks to sit down to take the pressure off my back. And I was sore every day.
But about day three I wasn’t really thinking about it anymore. My body was adjusting. My feet were adjusting, even though they were still sore. But I was feeling better and so were my legs.
Fast forward to today and I still work at my desk at my bar counter. It’s not the best view in the house but it is the perfect height for me to work comfortably.
Now that my office is getting remodeled I have pulled everything out of there and it’s a clean slate. My husband is going to fashion some type of desk which will have two areas for sitting and working and one area for my standing desk. I cannot wait to get in there and create a beautiful working space.
If you’re like me and not sure how to start your lifestyle changes, I recommend starting where you are the most. If you sit most of the day like I was, then perhaps finding a way to stand while working, take more walks and breaks, and just get moving a little bit more will help you be inspired, just like it did for me.

So glad to hear that standing more to work is working out! Sticking with it and taking it slow is key.
I’m so glad to hear you liked the book, too!
