Snow Falling on Blue Grass by Molly Harper

I am an avid reader. I have books in paperback stacked up, books on CD audio waiting for me and books on my ereader that I have access to constantly as it streams to my phone too. My mother used to tease me about having my nose in a book all the time and I can safely say that since I learned to read, I have never been far from a book. I have 3 that I am reading currently. While most of them are within the lighthearted chick lit or romance genre, I do read others too. I was sent a copy of this digital book to check out by Molly Harper, an author I enjoyed reading prior. Her books are full of humor and are just plain fun to read so I was excited to check this one out.

Summary
Parks & Recreation meets The Blue Collar Comedy Tour in this third ebook in Molly Harper’s Bluegrass series of contemporary romances: A love triangle of colleagues heats up the winter lodge where they get snowed in for a week.

Kentucky Tourism Commission employee and executive assistant extraordinaire Kelsey is known around the office for having everything under control. So it’s not surprising that she and her boss, Sadie, have everything planned to the second for the office winter retreat. But there are things even Kelsey can’t micromanage.

An unprecedented snowstorm smothers half of Kentucky and knocks out the power, closes the roads, and generally shuts down the state. Luckily, the lodge has working fireplaces and enough food to keep the staff from turning on each other like something out of The Shining. Kelsey wouldn’t mind being stuck inside if it wasn’t for the tension with her not-so-secret crush, Charlie, the office’s statistician. But handsome Ranger Luke, the lodge’s only employee on hand, is there to take Kelsey’s mind off her discomfort.

Even though this weekend is supposed to be a planning session for KTC, Kelsey can’t help her mind from wandering and finds herself conflicted over Luke and Charlie. Someone’s love will keep her warm, but whose will it be?

My Thoughts:
As I mentioned above, I really enjoyed Molly Harper’s other books I read and reviewed, Better Homes and Hauntings and How to Run with a Naked Werewolf, so I was looking forward to this one. What I love the most about this author’s writing style is that it is friendly. I cannot think of another way to put it. Her main characters are usually nice and they treat people right, for the most part. Plus, there is no over use of angst and drama in her books that I have found so far. That is refreshing to me as there seems to be many books that thrive on heartbreaking scenarios that leave the reader frustrated.

Snow Falling on Bluegrass uses a great plot and I really enjoyed the humor that Kelsey shows. She is smart, intelligent and is not afraid to embrace it. Having a male wannabe love interest that is her equal is a blessing. I cannot abide a weak lead in a book, especially when the author has the choice to create them strong and amazing.

This book is an enjoyable read. From the first page to the last, I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud. Molly Harper writes with message of fun and happiness. I read this in just a few hours and it is the perfect weekend read when you want to come away with no crazy book hangover from too much drama or feeling that you want to smack someone!

This copy I received was on digital but it may be available in paperback at some point, hopefully! You can find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Simon & Schuster, and other ebook retailers.
