When it comes to the colder winter months I tend to snuggle in and hibernate even more than normal. And as you know I do a lot of reading, but I do need breaks from that too. I do crochet a bit but haven’t been doing much of that either, although I do have a blanket I am working on, sort of.

So I decided to spoil myself a little bit this year. It was my birthday a few weeks ago and my sister sent me an Amazon gift card so I could pick up a few things for my office.

But I also wanted something different, something just for me to relax and enjoy something fun. So I did what I swore I would never do. I bought an adult coloring book and a set of gel pens.

I used to scoff at coloring books when I would see them but then I found Mandela’s and I fell in love with them. And even more so when I saw this awesome book and I knew I just had to have it.

So I started to work on my very first one. Unfortunately, the pen set that I bought was not overly extensive in the color ranges, but man, do they write amazing. They had five stars on the rating and they are so worth it.

The book itself is perfect because it has the spiral binding at the top so you can open it up properly and be able to work on your design. Plus the pages are super thick and don’t bleed through.

One thing I’m not great at is color coordination. For some people, it comes naturally but I have to work at it. However, I’m doing it for fun and relaxation so I don’t really care.

Here’s a picture of my first “official“ design. Don’t judge! LOL It’s my practice run and I think it came out pretty good. I definitely need to buy a larger range of colors but this is fun. A perfect way to spend some time relaxing doing some craft projects in the cold winter months!

What have you been working on in your down time?
