I’m so excited for spring this year. I decided that some of the updates that I’m doing inside is also going to extend to outside.
A couple of weeks ago I shared with you my paint choices for inside and that was an exciting experience. It had been too many years since I had a refresh.
This week I’ve been working on updating my backyard. It’s really a difficult space because the pool takes up much of my backyard. So I only have a small amount of space for plants and greens.
Quick and Easy Yard Updates for a Fresh New Look
I knew I wanted to put some kind of planter across the back fence because of the limited space for plants. Plus, my dogs always seem to kill anything if it’s in the ground. So I was researching planters and ended up at Tractor Supply and read the reviews for this fabulous planter.
I absolutely love it! It looks like metal and gives that aging old look and feel. However, these are plastic and exactly what I’m looking for.
I really love the fact that these are a larger planter. It’s so difficult to find ones in a larger size that are relatively affordable. These were about $25 and they run 16 inches across the top. I put a shrub in each one and ended up with five of the planters across the back of my fence by the pool. Just perfect! I love them!
I also upgraded my lights. I hated the cheap junk that I have had for many years. Most of them were dead and I just really wanted a nice look and feel.
So I was researching the solar lights but didn’t want to spend a fortune and I found these on Walmart.com. They’re made of metal, they have a glass bulb, and the size is wonderful. These are not a little lights. These are a substantial lamp that lends a beautiful sophistication to my yard.
I also love the look of them. They remind me of a carriage lamp style and I have them lining my walkway and a couple around the beds of my front planters. I also put a few in the backyard. Just what I was looking for and they work wonderfully.
Plus, the price is amazing as well. I think they were about $13-$14 for a two pack. So about seven bucks each. A little bit higher than some but the quality is great.
The last updates that I have currently added were just a little bit of color along my fence. I found these darling floral spinners at Target.com and I only bought one because I just wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. But I love the 3-D effect and I love the fact that both pieces will spin in the breeze.
I enjoyed it so much that I bought one in each color and I’m going to add those to my fence when they come in. These beauties are available in this blue, pink, purple, and yellow. They were about $16 each and they are about 15 inches across. So sweet!
I have a few more updates planned. I really need to do something with my side yard, actually both side yards. So a little bit here, a little bit there, but it is progress and I like it.
