Hard to believe 2020 is almost here. The end of the year is one of my favorite times. I love to lay out my goals and my vision for the new year.
It’s also a time of reflection where I look at things that have gone well and things that have not gone so well.
One of the things that has not gone so great this year is my dedication to healthy goals and a changing lifestyle. As I’ve aged I can really notice the changes in my body. I need so much more activity than what I’ve been giving it in the last few years.
Personal Health Goals for 2020
So I’ve been thinking about those healthy goals this week and how I can make those modifications to add back more fitness and activity into my life.
Also, my son is supposed to get married at the end of this coming year, and I dread those pictures. I don’t want to be fat and unhealthy for his pictures on the most important day of his life.
So I have some motivation this year. I have a separate notebook that I have been adding some ideas to of how I can easily add more activity into my life.
Here is a Simple List That I’ve Come Up With
- Walk more – using poles 5 to 6 days a week
- Use my trampoline 3 to 4 times a week
- Recumbent bike 3 to 4 times a week
- Resistant bands / Strength training 3 to 4 times a week
- Active movement daily – this can include dance or strength training anything to get moving
- When it warms up – swimming 3 to 4 times a week
Why This Should Help
I walk a lot on a normal daily basis but not at continual intervals like 30 or 40 minutes at a time. So my thinking is if I incorporate actual training periods of 15 minutes or more and do multiple activities during the day that should increase my strength, balance, and ability to get in shape and hopefully lose some weight.
It’s a different thought process but one I’m going to give a shot. When I’m off work I sit way too much. So today I started with my trampoline and even if I can do 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening that is better than absolutely nothing.
I’m hoping for a better and healthier 2020. All I can do is keep moving forward. Once I get this down, my diet will follow.
