Little Big Love by Katy Regan: Review

Little Big Love by Katy Regan - A Midlife Wife

I thought I would take a chance on different type of story to review this week. Checking out any women’s fiction story led me to review a copy of an upcoming release about a single mom and her son. The story interested me because of the topic and something just called to me. It’s about a young boy searching for his father.

I kind of have mixed feelings on the story so check out the full review below for this upcoming release.

ABOUT
Ten-year-old Zac Hutchinson collects facts: octopuses have three hearts, Usain Bolt is the fastest man on earth. But no one will tell him the one thing he wants to know most: who his father is and where he went.

When Zac’s mother, Juliet, inadvertently admits that his dad is the only man she’s ever loved, Zac decides he is going to find him and deliver his mom the happily ever after she deserves.

But Liam Jones left for a reason, and as Zac searches for clues of his father, Juliet begins to rebuild what shattered on the day that was at once the happiest and most heartbreaking of her life.

Told through the eyes of Zac, Juliet, and grandfather Mick, Little Big Love is a layered, heartfelt, utterly satisfying story about family, love, and the secrets that can define who we are.

Review of Little Big Love by Katy Regan

Like I said before above, I do have mixed feelings about the story. The premise of the story is amazing. I’m sure so many children feel the same way as this young boy. Launching a campaign to find his dad is exactly something children of that age will do. I know I would.

But what I didn’t agree with, and I did not care for, was how the adults handled the entire situation. Without giving any spoilers, let’s just say that I understand hurt feelings and not seeing both sides of the story can do incredibly terrible things to someone. But being selfish comes at a big price for others.

The author did a wonderful job with her realistic down to earth writing and gave this book levity and humor, some anger and disappointment, frustration, and yet, hope for the future. We got the entire range of emotion from a child’s point of view and the adult point of view.

While I had mixed feelings as I was reading this since it is both sweet and sad, understand that the story leaves you with a beautiful happy heart and sometimes that is amazing all on its own.
